Solventum 3M Scotchcast Plus White Casting Tape 10.1cm x 3.6m 82004 is a water-activated fibreglass casting tape for constructing rigid casts to immobilise fractures. It may also be used for most common orthopaedic casts and specialised prosthetic or orthotic devices by qualified medical professionals.

The tape combines fibreglass casting performance with plaster-like handling. It is designed for conventional cast applications, with a lightweight construction intended to support mobility and a durable cast.

Product Features and Materials

Knitted fibreglass fabric impregnated with water-activated polyurethane resin. Exposure to water, moisture or humidity initiates curing and makes the tape rigid.

How to Use

• Use clean water at room temperature, 21-24°C.
• Wear protective gloves while applying the tape.
• Immerse the roll in water. Three firm squeezes while submerged provide an initial setting time of about 4 minutes. To extend the setting time to about 5 minutes, immerse and remove the roll without squeezing.
• Wrap spirally, overlapping each turn by one-half to two-thirds of the tape width. Apply slight tension and avoid excessive tightness.
• Use 3 or 4 layers for a non-weight-bearing cast, or typically 5 to 8 layers for a weight-bearing cast.
• Smooth and rub the tape with gloved hands to ensure contact between layers, then mould the cast soon after smoothing.
• Allow 20-30 minutes before applying loads to a weight-bearing cast, at the medical professional's discretion.

• For single use only. Do not reuse.
• Use only by qualified medical professionals. The suitability of the product for a specific application is the responsibility of the on-site qualified medical professional.
• Wear sufficient protective gloves during application. Uncured resin adheres to unprotected skin, clothing and other surfaces. If resin contacts skin, wash with plenty of soap and water. Seek medical advice if skin irritation or rash occurs.
• Use in a ventilated room.
• Do not use water warmer than 24°C. Warmer water can increase the temperature of the cast during curing.
• Keep the cast dry. A wet cast may lead to skin maceration and cast breakdown. If it becomes wet, dry the cast and padding thoroughly, using a cold hair dryer if needed.
• Instruct patients to observe circulation in uncovered fingers or toes of the immobilised limb.
• Do not use a roll that feels partly or fully hard before application.
• Uncured tape can burn over an open flame.
• Store at ambient temperature. Avoid puncturing the sealed foil pouch, as this may cause premature hardening. If stored at high or low temperatures, allow the product to return to ambient temperature before application.
• Check the expiry date marked on the pouch before use.
