1. Perform hand hygiene and wear appropriate PPE. Confirm product integrity and expiry.
2. Select appropriate vein and apply local antisepsis following facility protocol.
3. Stabilize vein, insert needle-bevel up until flashback is seen, then advance the catheter.
4. Withdraw the introducer needle carefully, secure the catheter with sterile dressing and tape.
5. Flush with saline to confirm patency and label the site with date/time and operator initials.
6. Dispose of needle in a sharps container immediately after use. Single-use only.
