1. Wash hands thoroughly before handling the sterile dressing. 2. Open the individual sterile packet carefully without touching the dressing. 3. Ask the patient to close their eye. 4. Centre the absorbent pad over the closed eye and remove the release paper to expose the adhesive border. 5. Gently press the adhesive border to secure the pad—do not apply pressure to the eyeball. 6. Replace if soiled or per clinician instructions. For any penetrating eye injury, active bleeding, or suspected foreign body, seek immediate medical attention rather than self-dressing.
