1. Confirm patient consent and site marking. Don appropriate PPE.
2. Open sterile packaging and remove protective cap. Identify skin lesion and administer local anesthesia.
3. Place punch perpendicular to skin; apply gentle downward pressure and rotate clockwise until full-thickness specimen is obtained.
4. Use forceps or needle to lift the specimen and sever base with scalpel or scissors if required, then place specimen in appropriate fixative (e.g., formalin) for pathology.
5. Control bleeding with pressure or cautery; close site with sutures if necessary. Dispose of used punch in a sharps container.
