Akacia Foley Catheter — 100% Silicone FG16 (5–10 ml) — 1 Unit

The Akacia Foley Catheter 100% Silicone FG16 is a sterile, latex‑free indwelling urinary catheter designed for reliable bladder drainage in short‑ and long‑term urology care. Made from medical‑grade silicone with a smooth atraumatic tip and radio‑opaque stripe, this 16 French (16Fr / FG16) Foley catheter features a 5–10 ml balloon for secure placement. Supplied as a single, sterile unit, it delivers biocompatible performance with minimal urethral irritation—ideal for postoperative, retention and chronic catheterization needs.

Key Benefits

  • 100% medical‑grade silicone: soft, biocompatible and latex‑free to reduce irritation and allergic reactions.
  • FG16 / 16Fr size: commonly used adult diameter (≈5.3 mm) for effective urine drainage.
  • Adjustable 5–10 ml balloon capacity: secure fixation while allowing flexibility for clinician preference.
  • Radio‑opaque stripe: visible under X‑ray for correct placement verification.
  • Sterile, single‑use packaging: reduces infection risk and simplifies clinical workflow.
  • Atraumatic rounded tip and smooth surface: eases insertion and improves patient comfort.
Ingredients and Materials

This Foley catheter is manufactured from 100% medical‑grade silicone (silastic) that is biocompatible and latex‑free. Common components include a silicone drainage lumen, silicone balloon, a radio‑opaque stripe for imaging visibility, and a silicone connector. No natural rubber latex is used, making it suitable for latex‑sensitive patients.

How to Use

For professional use or instructed caregivers only. Follow sterile technique and local protocols.

  1. Confirm product integrity and expiration; open sterile packaging using aseptic technique.
  2. Lubricate the catheter tip with sterile water‑soluble lubricant unless pre‑lubricated.
  3. Insert gently until urine flows, then advance a further 2–3 cm to ensure the balloon is inside the bladder.
  4. Inflate the balloon with sterile water using the recommended volume (5–10 ml as labeled) — do not exceed the maximum volume.
  5. Attach drainage bag, secure catheter to thigh/pubic area as per protocol and monitor urine output and catheter patency.
  6. Change and care according to facility guidelines; replace immediately if blockage, severe discomfort or leakage occurs.
Who It’s For

Intended for adults requiring indwelling bladder drainage such as postoperative patients, individuals with urinary retention, those needing perioperative catheterization or long‑term management of urinary output. Suitable for clinicians, hospitals, long‑term care facilities and home health settings with trained caregivers.

Caution & Storage

Cautions:

  • Single‑use only — do not reuse or resterilize.
  • Ensure balloon is fully deflated before removal; do not inflate in the urethra.
  • Use caution in patients with urethral trauma, strictures or active urinary tract infection.
  • Monitor for signs of infection, blockage, leakage or allergic reaction; discontinue use and consult clinician if adverse events occur.

Storage:

  • Store in original sealed packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Keep out of reach of children. Do not use if packaging is damaged or opened.
