Actisorb Silver 220 Activated Charcoal & Silver Dressing — 10.5 x 19 cm

Actisorb Silver 220 is a clinically proven activated charcoal and silver wound dressing designed for effective odor control, antimicrobial support and exudate management in acute and chronic wounds. Manufactured by Systagenix, this 10.5 x 19 cm sterile dressing combines activated charcoal adsorption with the antimicrobial properties of silver to help reduce wound bioburden and manage malodour while remaining conformable and easy to apply.

Key Benefits

  • Powerful odor control: activated charcoal layer adsorbs malodorous molecules to improve patient comfort and confidence.
  • Antimicrobial support: silver component helps reduce bacterial load and supports infection management as part of clinical care.
  • Effective exudate management: designed for moderate to heavily exuding wounds when used with an appropriate secondary dressing.
  • Non-adherent and conformable: allows gentle dressing changes and conforms to wound contours for better contact.
  • Sterile, single-use: reduces cross-contamination risk and supports aseptic wound care protocols.
Ingredients and Materials

Actisorb Silver 220 is a multilayer sterile dressing incorporating activated charcoal (adsorbent) with an integrated silver antimicrobial component within an absorbent pad and support layers. The dressing is engineered to provide adsorption of odours, antimicrobial activity from ionic/metallic silver and fluid handling via absorbent substrate. For full compositional details, please refer to the manufacturer's instructions for use (IFU) and product labelling.

How to Use
  1. Assess wound and surrounding skin per local clinical protocol.
  2. Cleanse wound as appropriate and dry surrounding skin.
  3. Apply Actisorb Silver 220 with the charcoal side facing the wound bed to maximise adsorption of odour and contact with exudate.
  4. Cover with a suitable secondary/cover dressing to secure and provide additional absorbency if required.
  5. Change dressing as clinically indicated and according to exudate levels — follow local guidelines and the manufacturer’s IFU for wear time recommendations.
  6. Dispose of used dressing as clinical waste.

Always follow healthcare professional advice. Use sterile technique during application.

Who It’s For

Actisorb Silver 220 is suitable for patients with odorous, infected or high-exuding acute and chronic wounds where odor control, antimicrobial action and exudate management are required. Typical applications include pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, post-operative wounds and other exuding or malodorous wounds under professional clinical assessment.

Caution & Storage

Cautions: Do not use if there is a known sensitivity to silver, charcoal or dressing components. Use with caution on patients with silver allergy. Not intended for use on third-degree burns or where deep tunnelling requires packing — consult specialist advice. If signs of increased irritation, allergic reaction or worsening infection occur, discontinue use and seek clinical review. Follow local antimicrobial stewardship and wound care protocols.

Storage: Store in original packaging at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Do not use if the sterile packaging is damaged or opened. Single-use only.
