What is Duphalac Laxative Syrup?

This medication is a laxative used to treat constipation. It may help to increase the number of bowel movements per day and the number of days you have a bowel movement. Lactulose is a colonic acidifier that works by increasing stool water content and softening the stool. It is a man-made sugar solution.

How to use:

Adult dose for constipation:

• Starting dose (3 days) 30 ml once daily.
• Maintenance dose 15-30 ml once daily.

Children:

• Starting dose (3 days):6 - 14 years - 1-5 years - infants:15 ml - 10 ml - 5 ml.Once daily.
• Maintenance dose:6 - 14 years - 1-5 years - infants:10-15 ml - 5-10 ml - 2,5-5 ml.Once daily.

Ingredients: Each 15 mL of Duphalac contains

lactulose - 10g as the active ingredient, furthermore 1.5 g or less of galactose, 0.9 g or less of lactose, 0.7 g or less of epilactose, 0.3 g or less of tagatose, and 0.1 g or less of fructose.
