2. Use a water-based lubricant compatible with the catheter material. Do not use oil-based lubricants.
3. Gently insert the rounded tip into the urethra until urine begins to flow. For women, shorter insertion may be required; for men, 40 cm length accommodates urethral length.
4. Allow urine to drain fully, then slowly withdraw the catheter. Dispose of the catheter as a single-use medical waste item.
