Ingredients and Materials
Medical-grade polyurethane catheter (18 gauge), stainless-steel introducer needle, polypropylene hub, silicone or hydrophilic-coated catheter tip where applicable. Sterile, latex-free, pyrogen-free. Single-use disposable IV cannula packaged in protective sterile blister.
How to Use
- Confirm patient identity and indication for IV access. Check package integrity and expiry.
- Perform hand hygiene and apply appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Apply tourniquet, select suitable vein, and disinfect insertion site per protocol.
- Insert needle with catheter over needle device into vein until blood flashback is seen; advance catheter into vein and withdraw needle safely.
- Secure catheter with sterile dressing, connect IV line or cap, and label with insertion time and date. Monitor for patency and complications.
- Dispose of used needle and device in an approved sharps container and follow local waste disposal regulations.
