Hartmann Permafoam Classic 10 x 10cm
Hartmann Permafoam Classic 10 x 10 cm
Hartmann Permafoam Classic 10 x 10 cm is a sterile, high‑performance polyurethane foam wound dressing designed to manage moderate to heavily exuding wounds. Permafoam Classic delivers fast fluid uptake, effective exudate retention and a moist wound environment to support faster healing while protecting periwound skin from maceration. Ideal for chronic and acute wounds, it provides cushioning and conforms to body contours.
Key Benefits
- Highly absorbent open‑cell polyurethane foam for moderate to heavy exudate management
- Maintains a moist wound environment that supports granulation and epithelialisation
- Conforms to irregular wound shapes and provides cushioning to reduce pressure
- Helps protect periwound skin and reduce maceration
- Sterile, single‑use dressing—easy to apply and remove
- Suitable for a wide range of wounds: leg ulcers, pressure injuries, diabetic foot ulcers, post‑op wounds and donor sites
- Can be used under compression therapy or as a primary dressing with a secondary fixation
Ingredients and Materials
Permafoam Classic is manufactured from a soft, open‑cell polyurethane foam pad designed for rapid fluid uptake and retention. The pad is laminated to a semi‑permeable backing film that helps prevent strike‑through while allowing moisture vapour transmission. The product is supplied sterile for single use. Contains no active medication. Check packaging for the exact product variant (adhesive border vs non‑adhesive pad) and materials list.
How to Use
- Cleanse the wound and gently dry the periwound skin according to local protocol.
- Select the correct size so the dressing overlaps the wound margins by at least 1–2 cm.
- For non‑adhesive Permafoam: place the foam pad directly into the wound bed or over the wound and secure with a secondary dressing, tape or bandage.
- For adhesive‑border Permafoam: remove the release liner and apply the dressing to intact periwound skin; smooth edges to avoid folds.
- Change dressing when saturated, leaking, or as clinically indicated (typically every 1–3 days; follow local clinical guidance and manufacturer instructions). Do not attempt to re‑sterilize or re‑use.
Who It’s For
Permafoam Classic is appropriate for patients with moderate to heavily exuding acute or chronic wounds including venous leg ulcers, pressure injuries, diabetic foot ulcers, post‑operative wounds, donor and graft sites, and cavity wounds (with appropriate packing technique). It is suitable for use in hospitals, clinics and community care settings. Clinicians should select the correct size and variant (adhesive vs non‑adhesive) for each patient.
Caution & Storage
Caution: Do not use Permafoam Classic on dry, non‑exuding necrotic wounds where moisture is not present, or on third‑degree burns unless otherwise instructed by a specialist. Inspect the wound for signs of infection—if infection is suspected, manage appropriately and consider antimicrobial therapy. Discontinue use if allergic reaction or increased pain occurs. Single‑use sterile product: do not re‑sterilize or re‑use.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the packaging intact until use. Check expiry date on the pack. Keep out of reach of children.
