1. Only to be inserted by trained clinical personnel or under clinician instruction following local protocols.
2. Perform hand hygiene and use aseptic technique. Open sterile pack and apply recommended lubrication if required.
3. Insert catheter gently until urine flow is observed, then advance a further 1–2 cm and inflate the balloon with the specified 5 ml sterile water or saline to secure placement.
4. Attach drainage bag, secure catheter to the thigh, and monitor output and site for signs of leakage or irritation.
5. Deflate balloon completely before removal and follow facility removal protocols.
